Virtual Session 2: Mainstreaming Biodiversity
Mainstreaming, or the integration of biodiversity conservation into the planning and other
processes of various sectors across all levels of society, is among the key themes of the Post-2020
Global Biodiversity Framework. The development of this global framework puts greater emphasis
on establishing coordinated actions among various sectors relying on or affecting biodiversity, as
well as the services that it provides.
This is the main topic of the second session of a webinar series being hosted by the ASEAN Centre
for Biodiversity (ACB) and the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (KeTSA) Malaysia in the
run-up to the Third ASEAN Conference on Biodiversity or ACB 2020 to be held in Kuala Lumpur,
Malaysia, before the 15th meeting of the Conference of Parties to the CBD next year.
This session to be held on 27 October via Zoom aims to provide the public a good understanding
of mainstreaming biodiversity, what it constitutes, and the reasons leaders and nature
conservation experts across the globe are rooting on this to mitigate biodiversity loss.
